Free & Cheap Water Taxis & Ferries Around Boston Harbor: Summer 2026

Navigating Boston Harbor by boat doesn't have to cost a dime. Explore the city's waterscape with these three free and cheap boat services, offering both practical commutes and scenic views across the Harbor. Learn the routes, schedules, and details of each service below!

1) MBTA Harbor Loop

The MBTA's new F10 Harbor Loop ferry connects North Station, Aquarium, Seaport, and Logan Airport on weekdays, running every 30 minutes during morning and evening peak hours. Fares are $2.40 full / $1.10 reduced, matching subway Zone 1A pricing.

2) Boston Launch Company Boat Shuttle Service

Boston Launch Company began a free boat shuttle service in the summer of 2017. The water taxi connects four restaurants: Reel House Seaport, The Tall Ship, Reel House East Boston, and Pier 6 Charlestown. The service now costs $7 per person for a one-way ride, or you can get an All Day Pass for $18. Tickets can be purchased on the Token Transit app.

Luxury motor yachts depart day and night from Long Wharf North to Encore Boston Harbor

4) East Boston Ferry

The MBTA runs the East Boston Ferry service from Long Wharf (Marriott Waterfront) to Lewis Mall Wharf (Tall Ship East Boston) for just $2.40 one way.
