Spring is in the air! Temperatures are rising, birds are starting to tentatively warble, and we’re finally enjoying more than 2 hours of sunlight a day. To get you through these last few weeks of winter, here are some spectacular spring experiences to look forward to.

Boston Red Sox Home Opener

When: Wed, 3/30 at 2:10 p.m.

Where: Fenway

Info: Bostonians know it’s officially spring once the Red Sox are playing. Head to the park to welcome spring and cheer on the home team against the Orioles. Don’t forget to snag yourself a Fenway Frank!


Boston Marathon

When: Mon, 4/17

Where: Back Bay

Info: The Boston Marathon is the world’s oldest annual marathon, dating back to 1896. It’s also one of the most important events all year in Boston. Embrace your city pride and celebrate the runners on this festive day.


Boston Design Week

When: April 25-May 7

Where: Around Boston

Info: For an exciting two weeks the Boston Design Week festival celebrates design of all kinds around the city. Attend lectures, art shows, and parties (most of them free and all of them open to the public) touching on contemporary design topics.


Massachusetts Craft Brewers Festival

When: April 29

Where: South End

Info: For one glorious day you can find more than 40 of Massachusetts' best craft breweries under one roof. Tickets include unlimited beer sampling and you can chat with some of the brewers themselves.


Boston Hot Sauce Festival 

When: April 29-30

Where: Brighton

Info: This two-day festival celebrates more than 20 hot sauce purveyors from the Northeast. Enjoy food, entertainment, a hot sauce tasting challenge, and festive drinks. Can you take the heat?


Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater

When: May 4-7

Where: Downtown

Info: Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater has been breaking boundaries as a Black dance company since 1968. Every spring the troupe comes to Boston, performing an unforgettable show with a diverse and talented cast.


Lilac Sunday at the Arnold Arboretum

When: Sun, 5/14 at 10 a.m.

Where: Jamaica Plain

Info: Harvard’s Arnold Arboretum boasts more than 400 different kinds of lilacs which reach peak bloom around this time and for over a century the park has celebrated Mother’s Day with the Lilac Festival. This is the only day all year that you’re allowed to picnic in the Arboretum!


Duckling Day

When: Sun, 5/14 at 10 a.m.

Where: Boston Common

Info: It’s hard to find a cuter spring celebration than this one. Inspired by the beloved children’s book Make Way for Ducklings by Robert McCloskey, Duckling Day features a parade of children and families dressed like ducklings, games, pop-up art installations, and more.


Boston Calling Music Festival

When: May 26-28

Where: Allston

Info: Boston Calling is the city’s spectacular 3-day music festival held on the sprawling lawn of Harvard’s Athletic Complex in Allston. This year’s headliners include The Lumineers, Foo Fighters, Alanis Morissette, Paramore, and many others. While enjoying the music, ride the 100-foot ferris wheel, snack on food from local favorites, and play life-sized outdoor games.


Kelleher Rose Garden 2022 Bloom

When: Fri 6/4 7 a.m.

Where: Fenway

Info: The beautifully designed Kelleher Rose Garden in Fenway (circa 1931) is in bloom for a short three weeks a year, and you don’t want to miss it. In this hidden oasis, you’ll find 200 different varieties of roses and plenty of photo opportunities.
