Wellesley Theatre Project Presents Seussical, The Musical, Kids!

Get ready to join Wellesley Theatre Project (WTP) for an adventure in SEUSSICAL, KIDS! on Wednesday June 11th, Thursday June 12th, and Friday June 13th at 7PM, and Saturday June 14th and Sunday June 15th at 11AM, 2PM, and 5PM. All performances will take place at the WTP Studio Theater, located at 219 Washington St, Wellesley, MA 02481. Tickets are priced $18 for adults and $10 for students and seniors, and may be purchased online at http://wellesleytheatreproject.org in advance, or at the door for $20 for adults and $12 for students and seniors. Join Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat, and all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters in this fantastical musical extravaganza from Tony Award winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty. From the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat, our narrator, tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos, including JoJo, a Who child, who gets in trouble for thinking too many “thinks”. Horton’s challenge is twofold - not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must also guard an abandoed egg that’s been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping, and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family, and community are challenged and emerge triumphant! 

SEUSSICAL, KIDS! features a talented cast composed of 54 students between the ages of 7 and 10. Cast members of SEUSSICAL, KIDS! reside in Wellesley as well as other communities including Needham, Weston, Brookline, Newton, Natick, Chestnut Hill, and Boston. The production staff includes: Alexa Lambert, Director & Choreographer; Rose Mooney, Music Director; Dionysus Riverson, Costume Design; Ben Rush, Scenic & Lighting Design; Ben Saraydarian, Assistant Director; Lydia Harrison, Assistant Choreographer; Jacob Robbins, Sound Engineer; Ben Gilman, Production Assistant; Lucia Saenz, Intern; and Noah Barnes, Props. SEUSSICAL, KIDS! features Music by Stephen Flaherty, Lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, and a Book by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty. It is Co-Concieved by Lynn Ahrens, Stephen Flaherty and Eric Idle, and is Music Supervised, Adapted and Produced by Bryan Louiselle. It is based on the works of Dr. Seuss, and is presented through special arrangements with Musical Theater International.

Wellesley Theatre Project is an award winning arts academy and a Wellesley nonprofit devoted to providing students (PreK - 12th Grade) with the opportunity to study and experience theatre and performing arts through year round classes, staged productions, workshops and summer camps.
