Rooted in the rich cultural traditions of Latin music and dance, MetaMovements creates high-quality performances and immersive artistic experiences that honor lineage while speaking to contemporary audiences.


This production is semi-autobiographical and multidisciplinary, created by Javier Jeffer and Anara Frank, with support from MetaMovements Artist Collective members. It emerges as a deeply collaborative creation thanks to the dedication and artistry of the DeCu Music and Dance teams of MetaMovements, with the vision and expertise of Illuminus, the collaboration of JAE Dance Center, and the support of the Passim Iguana Music Fund.


Un Sueño Habanero: An Immersive Theatre Show with Live Music & Dance will have audiences dancing and reflecting on the importance of connections. Guided by the voices of his ancestors and the presence of the Orishas, Roberto navigates memory, identity, and purpose. Both in dreams and in waking life, these spiritual forces remind him who he is and the path he is meant to follow, connecting past, present, and destiny in a powerful and transformative experience.


Through projections, poetry, live percussion, songs, and dance in an intimate black box theatre, the audience is transported between Havana, Cuba, and Boston.

About MetaMovements

MetaMovements is an international artist collective based in Boston, MA, and directed by Anara Frank and Eli Pabón. With over 30 years of experience as performers, educators, and cultural leaders, the directors guide a network of artists across the United States, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic. Through performances, educational programs, and cultural exchanges, the collective reaches thousands each year, bridging cultures and generations. Known for both artistic excellence and community impact, MetaMovements develops original work, trains the next generation of artists and leaders, and presents widely at festivals and venues nationally and internationally. Their work reflects a deep commitment to cultural integrity, creative expression, and the transformative power of the arts.


About Javier Jeffer

Born in Havana, Cuba, Javier Jeffer Cumbrera is a renowned dancer, choreographer, and musician with mastery of a wide range of Afro-Cuban folkloric genres, both traditional and contemporary. He is also an expert in Cuban Modern Technique and in various Cuban social dances such as rumba, son, casino, and others. A graduate of Cuba’s National School of the Arts, he has had an extraordinary career, winning multiple national and international awards as a dancer, soloist, and choreographer. He has collaborated with well-known artists such as Alexander Abreu, El Noro, and Alain Perez, achieving the titles of Principal Dancer and Master at the National Contemporary Dance Company of Cuba. In addition, he has served as principal choreographer and soloist for Madreagua Afro-Cuban Folkloric Music & Dance Theater, among others. He is delighted to be part of the MetaMovements Artistic Collective and to have the opportunity to share his passion and culture with the world.
