Say hello to Boston Public Art Triennial – the city’s first and only public art organization dedicated to supporting artists and communities in presenting bold contemporary public art that opens minds, conversations, and spaces, resulting in a more vibrant, open, and equitable region. Our annual programs Lot Lab and the Public Art Accelerator find and foster artists and communities, while serving as feeders to a culminating city-wide Triennial public art exhibition. The first Triennial will happen in 2025 and every three years thereafter. The best part is that it’s open to all. Find all the sculptures with this map.


The theme of The Triennial 2025 is The Exchange, an artist-driven and expert-supported exhibition of extraordinary cross-disciplinary public art projects that break down social and professional barriers to promote collaboration and strengthen community resilience.


For six months, hundreds of thousands of people from Boston, New England, and beyond will experience the power and provocation of bold, brilliant public art.


From May to October 2025, the inaugural Boston Public Art Triennial will present 15 compelling commissions sprawled across the city. Each visionary local, national, and international artist will produce sculptures, interactive exhibits, or performance-based and community-led activities with an emphasis on East Boston, Roxbury, Dorchester, and Mattapan, ensuring equitable representation and access. The Triennial 2025’s commissioned works will be joined by additional public art experiences across the city.
