Musicians Chris Klaxton and Mike Effenberger join forces to plumb the depths of the great American songbook of jazz standards, the lesser American songbook, spirituals, new standards, and the good and bad news of this post-tonal musical world.
Covering musical giants from Bach to Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk to Black Sabbath, their music is both unexpected and superbly executed. Give them a listen on Bandcamp / Bandcamp or Spotify or Apple Music.
Tickets are general admission, table seating. The audience is limited to approximately 100 people. Get dinner downstairs at Brookline’s Finest, or bring take out or snacks from home. Beverage service of wine, beer, soda and water is provided with donation requested with proceeds benefitting the art, nature and events at the Andres Institute of Art. State Law does not permit us to allow outside wine and beer to be brought in.
Shows are upstairs in the Welcome Center, the former Big Bear Lodge. Elevator is available. Please take a few minutes to visit the Welcome Center downstairs to learn about the AIA sculpture park and annual symposium.
Good weather is forecast, arrive early to hike the sculpture trails. The park is a former ski area (plan on vertical rise!) with 10 miles of trails and well over 100 sculptures along the trails. There is one paved trail (easy footing) and one trail along the base of the hill with minimal vertical rise. Concerts are informal, hiking attire is fine! Grab a Sunday trifecta - art, nature and music! We are one hour from Boston on a Sunday afternoon with no traffic.
