Pastel Painting Demo & Talk with Laurinda O'Connor

Our upcoming art event will be held on Saturday, June 2 from 1 to 3pm with artist Laurinda O’Connor. Laurinda will talk about her painting techniques in pastels. Public is encouraged to stop by any time, watch her paint, ask questions, listen, talk, and view the display of her paintings on the Gallery Artist Wall. Laurinda is one of the Twelve Gallery Artists who get featured for a month throughout the year. Don’t hesitate to stop by, light refreshments will be served.
The month of June 2018 features pastel works by Laurinda O’Connor. Laurinda is an award-winning artist, designer, and instructor, holds a BFA from UMass and an MFA from Boston University. She works as a graphic designer and teaches art to adults and children of all ages. She has won numerous awards and exhibited her works in many art galleries. Laurinda talks about her work: “As a pastel artist, I strive to let simplified strokes of color and line create a path into a scene and moment in time. The process of painting allows me to lose myself in my painting while the immediacy of pastels offer a palette for every mood and season. The small chunks of pure pigment offer the perfect tool to swipe in a stroke or add that extra small detail of light. I push myself to capture the sense I feel from the landscape as well as to create the up-close excitement of color, texture, and expression on the surface of my paper.”
