Please join us as we celebrate the opening of Last Rehearsal, a solo exhibition by Ahrong Kim, on view from September 5 to September 28, 2025.
LaiSun Keane is proud to present Ahrong Kim in her first solo exhibition in Boston and at our gallery. In Last Rehearsal, Kim embraces the role of motherhood. Her whimsical ceramic sculptures serve as visual representations of Kim’s interior thoughts and feelings as she reflects on her evolving sense of self. She states:
I stand in the space between girlhood and motherhood, slowly opening toward a role that will change me forever. Some days I still feel like the girl I’ve always been; other days I catch glimpses of someone I do not yet know.

Born in South Korea in 1985, Ahrong Kim holds her MFA in Ceramics from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). She has completed several residencies, most recently at the International Ceramics Research Center in Denmark. Her work is in the permanent collections of institutions such as the American Museum of Ceramic Art in Pomona, CA and the Rhode Island School of Design Museum in Providence, RI. She is the recipient of numerous awards including the 2022 Artists’ Choice Award from the Smithsonian Craft Show in Washington, DC. Ahrong Kim lives and works in New Jersey.
