Local theater artists Anna Kohler and Caleb Hammond lead a team of exceptional Boston and New York based artists in an experimental performance exploring the relationship between muse and creator, subject and object, model and artist and what is at the vital center of the creative mind.
Through a combination of live performance, video, ASMR and new aroma technology, the audience travels through Kohler’s personal memories as she recalls her artistic awakening as a young model in France. Kohler and her creative team create for the audience a world of heightened vulnerability and sensuality, a sensory experience of enhanced stimuli and vivid images.
MYTHO? Lure of Wildness features renowned performance artist Hapi Phace, video artists Shaun Irons and Lauren Petty with scent designs from Harvard team David Edwards and Rachel Fields. Other performers in MYTHO? include Alenka Kraigher, Katiana Rangel and Adam Strandberg.
In addition to MYTHO? Lure of Wildness, Anna Kohler has worked on stage with some of America’s most respected playwrights, actors and directors, and was a longtime collaborator and associate member of America’s foremost experimental theater company The Wooster Group. In 2003, when she reprised her role as Natalya in the Group’s revival of Brace Up!, her performance was praised in The New Yorker as the “emotional center” of the show. As an author/director, she has conceived and directed plays that have been performed in Austria, Germany, Brazil, and the United States. In recent years, her focus on teaching has become an integral part of her artistic life. Currently, she is a senior lecturer at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
