Pianist John Kordalewski leads the acclaimed Makanda Project, a large ensemble comprised of top players from the Boston and NYC jazz scenes. I'm pleased to welcome him back to Mandorla Music for a rare trio appearance. He'll be joined by NYC-based bassist Carlos Pino and drummer Royal Hartigan, known for his deep study of world rhythm traditions. The music will have an international dimension, drawing from Carlos' Colombian background, Royal's extensive experience exploring the rhythm traditions of West Africa, and John's musical experiences in South Africa, along with the jazz tradition of the United States. This trio blew me away at Jazz Along the Charles back in September and I can't wait to have them play at Third Life.
