One of Somerville's biggest and longest-running community festivals returns for three days of homemade Greek food, live music, and dancing under the big tent at Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church.
Food is made from scratch by parishioners: the famous Traditional Gyro, chicken souvlaki, moussaka, pastitsio, spanakopita, and a pastry table stacked with baklava, galaktoboureko, and loukoumades (hot honey puffs, voted best in Boston). Plenty of vegetarian options. Cold beer & wine are available in the outdoor bar garden.
Live Greek music and folk dancing daily starting at 5 PM. Come for dinner and stay to dance, or just watch with a plate of loukoumades in hand.
Entry is free, the event runs rain or shine, and food is available for purchase (cash and credit accepted). Free parking, and a short walk from the Gilman Square Green Line station and Highland Ave buses.
The festival is the parish's largest annual fundraiser, and proceeds support its community ministries, including the Dormition Table serving free homemade meals to neighbors in need.
