In the mid-1950s, Rock n Roll exploded onto the world stage, echoing the profound social transformations of the post-war period. Through a unique fusion of blues, gospel, country, and pop, this electrifying new music laid the foundation for a new era in music history. This engaging lecture will explore the vital contributions of each genre to the development of rock n roll, illustrating how they influenced the sound and culture of this revolutionary music movement. Presented by Quincy resident Professor of Music at Wheaton College, this toe-tapping talk will provide insights into the rhythms and melodies that defined a generation and transformed the landscape of popular music.
About the Presenter
Delvyn Case teaches music history, songwriting, and composition at Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts. He has spent 25 years helping people of all ages understand, and appreciate both popular and classical music. His compositions have been performed by over 100 orchestras, including the Boston Pops, and his students have received multiple Grammy nominations. Learn more at www.delvyncase.com.
