The Boston Athenaeum will host a free “Community Day” open house, opening its iconic red doors at 10 ½ Beacon Street for attendees to enjoy all five floors of one of the country’s oldest and most distinguished independent libraries.


Activities include up-close views of the Athenaeum’s special collections and rare books, live music from local artists, remarkable views of the city from the Athenaeum iconic fifth-floor reading room and outdoor terraces, and free access to their two exhibitions, “Wild Flowers of New England” and “Exhibiting China.”


The Athenaeum’s children’s library will host story times and activities.
