Many people care deeply about fairness and justice but find themselves avoiding conversations about race. Others feel frustrated, shut down, or unsure how to respond when these topics arise. This 90-minute interactive workshop explores why conversations about race often become difficult, what gets in the way of genuine dialogue, and how we can engage more effectively across differences. Together we'll explore why defensiveness shows up; the difference between intent and impact; how racial conditioning influences all of us; practical tools for staying engaged when conversations become uncomfortable; and how to move from fear and avoidance toward curiosity and connection. Participants will leave with greater confidence, practical communication tools, and opportunities for continued learning and action.
