John Burrows is a past president of the Gibson Society and longtime friend of the museum. The founder and proprietor of J. R. Burrows & Company, specialists in historic reproduction decorative arts, Burrows is nationally recognized for his knowledge of nineteenth-century architecture and interior design. During his career, he has worked on over 100 of America's most significant historic houses and public buildings. His recent projects include manufacturing reproductions of the Gibson House Museum's red and blue carpets.

The Gibson House Museum is a private, nonprofit house museum in Boston's historic Back Bay neighborhood. Completed in 1860, the Gibson House stands virtually untouched as a historic house museum in Back Bay and a National Historic Landmark. Visitors enjoy a glimpse into the lives of a well-to-do Boston family and its domestic staff.
