This year the Charles River Museum of Industry and Innovation will pay homage to the holiday spirit and Charles Dickens with its Dickens Holiday Festival on Sunday, December 15, from 10am to 4:00pm.


Housed in the birthplace of the American Industrial Revolution — the site of Francis Cabot Lowell’s first manufacturing Mill — the Museum is the perfect backdrop to showcase Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” and "Tea with Mrs. Dickens." In the Museum’s Main Gallery, which once functioned as the last boiler house for the Boston Manufacturing Company, costumed actors from the Hovey Players will be reading scenes from the classic holiday tale. Additionally Catherine Dickens (as portrayed by actress Marci Diamond) shares stories about her life, Victorian Christmas and culinary traditions, and what it's like to be married to the most famous author in the world. For more interactive fun: “Splendid Teapot Racing” returns to the roster of events!


The holiday merriment continues upstairs in the old engine room of the Boston Manufacturing Company. Now a ballroom, this space will be filled with musical performances by singers/carolers and a fiddler. For your shopping needs, vendors will be hawking holiday wares for seasonal celebrations. There will be soap makers, chocolate, fantastic art, unique jewelry and so much more!


All this to be enjoyed in the decked out halls of the Museum for standard Museum admission of: $10 for Adults, $5 for Seniors (65+) and Students, Free for Kids under 5, Members, and Active Duty Military
