It’s patio season, baby! 🥂☀️ Time to maximize the warm months of Boston weather with this list of restaurants with beautiful patios. Your dining experience will be one-of-a-kind, whether you’re taking in skyline views, sunset skies on the water, unique ambiance and architecture, and more.

1) The Tall Ship

Where: East Boston

Info: This 245-foot boat has been renovated into a floating oyster bar and warm weather hot spot in East Boston. Enjoy drinks, charcuterie boards, and spellbinding views of the Boston skyline from this unconventional patio. The Tall Ship will be back for another season. However, at this time, there's still no word on when it will be open.

2) Alcove

Where: West End

Info: Alcove’s expansive patio overlooks Boston’s iconic Zakim bridge and sits just steps from TD Garden. Enjoy upscale New England cuisine and an award-winning wine list before heading to a game or a concert at the Garden. 

3) ReelHouse Oyster Bar

Where: Seaport

Info: You’ll be right on the water with views of the marina and glistening water at this restaurant as you savor oysters, caviar, Neapolitan pizza, and more. Whether you decide to stop by for lunch or dinner, take in the blue or sunset skies right on the pier. 

4) Pier 6

Where: Charlestown

Info: Enjoy panoramic views of the Boston skyline from this stylish patio in Charlestown. While you sample innovative seafood dishes, overlook the USS Constitution, the oldest commissioned naval ship in the world. Pier 6 also offers a free shuttle to Reelhouse, their sister restaurant across the harbor.

5) Porto

Where: Back Bay 

Info: Toast the (finally) summer weather at the chic outdoor wet bar on the Porto patio. Located in the heart of Back Bay, you can dine under the stars, and the carefully placed twinkle lights, on this sheltered and stylish space. 

6) Il Patio di Eataly at Eataly Boston

Where: Back Bay

Info: Experience the ambiance of an Aperol spritz-filled Italian garden in the shadows of Boston’s bustling Back Bay. Il Patio di Eataly is a sprawling outdoor foodie haven serving up classic Italian dishes in the heart of the city. 

7) Time Out Market

Where: Fenway

Info: After selecting food and beverages from some of Boston’s most exciting restaurants in Time Out Market, grab a seat on their spacious patio to lounge in the sun in the middle of the vibrant Fenway neighborhood. It’s also the best seat in the house for concerts held on the 401 Park Lawn. 

8) Lawn On D

Where: South Boston

Info: Calling Lawn on D just a patio is perhaps doing it a disservice, but this adult playground boasting art installations, games, food, drinks, and live music is an ideal spot to soak up the sun over a cocktail this summer. 

9) Mare Oyster Bar

Where: North End

Info: True patios, that don’t involve bulky traffic barriers, are rare in the North End and Mare Oyster Bar has one of the best. Tucked off the beaten path of Hanover Street, this intimate patio has couches, firepits, and quiet for a romantic evening. 

10) Hojoko

Where: Fenway

Info: Known for its innovative Japanese-fusion cuisine and craft cocktails, Hojoko also boasts poolside patio dining at the Verb Hotel in the warmer months. Designed with clean lines and retro colors, snacking by this pool transports you to the West Coast without the airfare.

11) Marseille

Where: South End

Info: This breezy French patio dining setup will transport you straight to the streets of Paris. In between oysters and escargot you can order champagne from the adorable on-site drink truck. 

12) Oleana

Where: Cambridge

Info: The dreamy back patio at this Mediterranean restaurant feels removed from the hustle and bustle of the city. Surrounded by greenery and sipping a good wine, it’s the ultimate outdoor dining experience.

13) ICA Wine + Coffee Bar 

Where: Seaport

Info: After perusing the contemporary art exhibitions at the ICA, head to their wine and coffee pair to sip natural wines selected by sommelier Lauren Friel of Rebel Rebel and Dear Annie. The outdoor patio overlooks the Boston Harbor and benefits from the sea breeze.

14) Bow Market

Where: Somerville

Info: Shop an array of local businesses, sample food options from empanadas to oysters, and sip craft cocktails under the stars in the Bow Market courtyard. Bring your furry friends along, too!

15) ReelHouse

Where: East Boston

Info: Reelhouses’s sun-splashed patio offers unparalleled views of the Boston skyline served with some of the city’s freshest seafood. The restaurant offers a free boat shuttle service to their sister location Pier 6 across the harbor in Charlestown and ReelHouse Seaport. 

16) MIDA

Where: East Boston 

Info: Take in the scene of Boston’s waterfront at this Mida location. You’ll be surrounded by water on all three sides, so you can relish the ocean and the skyline no matter where you sit. This James Beard-nominated group establishment will leave you breathless from good food and views.

17) Lolita’s

Where: Fort Point  

Info: An all-time favorite. The back patio in the Seaport location gives you perfect views of the Fort Point Channel since it’s located right on the Harborwalk. Their Back Bay location will put you front and center in the heart of the city too in their outdoor seating area!

18) Shy Bird

Where: South Boston 

Info: Another personal favorite, Shy Bird has a cute outdoor seating area with string lights and even a swinging bench. Their industrial, brewery vibe is perfect for a night out with friends as you enjoy drinks and big plates.

19) Ristorante Lucia

Where: North End

Info: This place is a famous staple in the North End that is always packed. Romantic outdoor seating in the North End is taken to the next level here, since they have partnered with the Stephens Church to use their front space, so you can overlook the restaurant, red bricks, and fire escapes. 

20) Ciao Roma

Where: North End

Info: No need to get on a plane. Rome is already here as you sit on the bustling streets of the North End to enjoy fine pasta and a rich glass of vino. You’ll be looking out into the oldest public square in North America while eating under Ciao Roma’s red and green umbrellas.

21) Petit Robert Bistro

Where: South End 

Info: Enjoy a little taste of France at this bistro’s front courtyard. Part of the South End for nearly 20 years, PRB’s a place you can have a romantic meal or people watch with great cocktails and authentic French cuisine.

22) SRV

Info: A secret garden courtyard? Say less. Watch ivy vine across the bricked walls of the South End’s buildings as you munch on pasta, small plates, and more at this Venetian bacaro. On warm days, they also open the front windows for some outdoor seating in their front patio too!

23) Myers + Chang

Where: South End 

Info: Enjoy shareable small plates with flavors inspired by Taiwanese and South Asian dishes. This Asian and woman-owned restaurant has been having people talking for over a decade. Enjoy the views of Peters Park next door while eating on their flower-wrapped tabletops.


24) Sonsie

Where: Back Bay 

Info: Be front and center on Newbury. Watch every passerby stroll along the street as you eat pizza and other small plates. They also open their floor-to-ceiling windows on a nice day for fresh air and sunlight. 

25) Charles River Speedway

Where: Brighton 

Info: Grab a thick Sicilian pizza slice, bar bites, empanadas, and some brews from the small shops. Then, enjoy watching blue skies turn to cotton candy in the Speedway’s open courtyard. Sometimes, there are markets, live music from the brewery, and movie nights to enjoy too.

26) Lone Star Taco Bar

Where: Allston  

Info: Frozen margs, tacos, and good company. The perfect combination at Lone Star’s Allston location for their patio seating that’s enclosed. You’ll feel hidden away from the busyness of the city. Their Cambridge location also has outdoor seating to be enjoyed.

27) Branch Line

Where: Watertown  

Info: Enjoy their specialty chicken, big plates, and cocktails at their big outdoor patio that’s covered for your sunburn protection!

28) The Bowery Bar

Where: Dorchester  

Info: Fun cocktails and comforting American food can be found at this restaurant. Their outdoor patio is enclosed for privacy and less noise. Take in the string lights, colorful umbrella, and good eats!

29) DBar

Where: Dorchester   

Info: This place has and does it all. Restaurant by day and club by night, DBar has a creative outdoor patio where you can sit in a graffitied industrial container. Enjoy the inventive chandelier and cool breeze outside of this establishment with comfort eats, cocktails, and a seasonal menu. 

30) Eastern Standard

Where: Fenway    

Info: Bask in the sight and sounds of Fenway Park on the patio of Boston's most iconic restaurant. Enjoy classic cocktails and Brasserie-style menu items on this spacious and beautiful patio.
