Awet Teame is an Eritrean actress, stand-up comedian, writer, voiceover artist, producer, and civic leader based in Boston.

As an actress, Awet is known for her role as Dr. Patel on Dexter: New Blood and recently appeared as an Eritrean actress in the award-winning short film Twice As Fast.

A stand-up comedian with over two decades of experience, Awet is the creator and producer of Funny Hermits Comedy and RetroGags, comedy platforms dedicated to intentional, artist-centered spaces for both emerging and experienced performers.

As a voiceover artist, Awet recently lent her voice and appeared on camera in a Lyft commercial campaign, which aired on smart billboards and across social media.

Awet is also a writer and contributing author to the anthology What Doesn’t Kill Her: Women’s Stories of Resilience.

She previously co-hosted The Mowet Show on 1410 AM, The Base of Boston, and beyond the arts, she serves as an elected Brookline Town Meeting Member.
