Brian Hoefling is the founder of the Herzog Cocktail School, which has been educating the public on cocktail history and preparation since 2012. He is a historian, with a particular interest in the history of Boston’s bars and distinctive cocktails. He is also the author of Distilled Knowledge: The Science Behind Drinking’s Greatest Myths, Legends, and Unanswered Questions (Abbeville Press, 2016), a guide to common scientific questions about drinks and drinking. He lives in Cambridge with a large collection of rums.
