Second Chances delivers free, empowering clothing to 1,000+ people experiencing poverty, crisis, and housing instability in Cambridge, Somerville, and adjacent communities each year, working in partnership with more than 25 local homelessness and social service organizations. We also provide more than 4,000 pairs of new socks and underwear to people in need in our community and reuse and recycle 300,000+ pounds of clothing, shoes, and accessories each year.

When Second Chances was founded in 2005, we were ahead of the curve in adopting circularity, turning waste into opportunity. Since then, together with our generous community, we’ve diverted more than 3.5 million pounds of clothing from landfills through recycling and reuse – reducing environmental impact while helping more than 7,500 neighbors in need.
