Ahead of the official start to summer, Zipcar, the world’s leading car-sharing network headquartered in Boston, is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a pop-up block party, creating space for people, not cars. Through sharing a Zipcar, up to 13 personally-owned vehicles are eliminated from city streets, reducing congestion, pahking competition and carbon emissions helping to create a cleaner, greener Boston.
Join us for a ceremonial 25th Anniversary cake cutting of a green VW Bug Zipcar (the original Zipcar launched in 2000) with Robin Chase, co-founder and former CEO of Zipcar, Angelo Adams, current head of Zipcar, local elected officials and Zipcar employees.
Founded in Cambridge in 2000 (before smartphones, social media, ride-hailing and electric vehicles), Zipcar pioneered car sharing in the United States and has reinvented how cities move by providing convenient access to a vehicle. Driven by a mission to enable simple and responsible urban living, Zipcar was one of the first to apply a subscription model to platform technology that provides convenient access instead of ownership and aims to provide equitable, sustainable transportation for cities, universities and businesses nationwide.
