Yoga for Bone Health: Advanced Mini-Series -- with Masha Leuner
Every other Monday May 6, May 20, June 10, June 24 (9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.) -- Brookline
Mini Series Description/Benefits:
Yoga for Bone Health is a targeted practice developed by Dr. Loren Fishman, that is primarily designed to maintain a healthy skeleton. Recent studies have shown that specific yoga postures may aid in reversing bone loss, if practiced frequently and consistently.
This mini series will focus on advanced Yoga for Bone Health postures from Dr. Fishman’s ongoing study. Each session will be dedicated to a specific posture but will retain elements of building strength, flexibility and balance. Students will work on strengthening the spine and hips, which are both fracture risk areas. We will review common contraindications for osteoporosis/osteopenia, learn to stretch safely, calm the nervous system, and sync breath to movement. The information provided is designed so that students can take their existing home practice to the next level.
