The Beehive's co-owner and resident curator Jennifer Epstein and special guest curator Olivia Ives-Flores will co-host the 17th installment in The Beehive's continuing art series entitled Sting! 17: Collective Creature 2.0.
The dynamic selection of the eleven artists’ work featured in “Collective Creature 2.0” highlights a 21st century interpretation of portraiture, the oldest universal subject of art in the age of social media obsession—our newest collective obsession. Each work of art is created through paint, video, photography and installation. All of the artists featured in this series participated in the painting of the Beat Hotel and have also embellished the walls of The Beehive, connecting the two sister restaurants.
Performance by Tammy Scheffer Trio. Raised in Belgium and Israel, vocalist and composer Scheffer’s music combines influences of contemporary jazz with her own expressive voice and a strong sense of melody. Growing up in a musical family, Tammy was first introduced to jazz music in high school, and started performing professionally at the age of 18. Influenced and encouraged by the instrumentalists she worked with, Tammy absorbed their approach to improvisation and composition and embraced the freedom of instrumental jazz.
