Spend half a winter’s day working with warm, cozy, and colorful yarn! Each participant will learn to weave their own circular weaving, starting from the center and radiating out to one another. A short guided meditation will allow us to go within. A relaxing work-time will allow us to slow down, work with our hands, and connect to each other.

Stacey Piwinski is an interdisciplinary artist who speaks to painterly concerns using textiles and found materials to create intricate weavings that consider the passage of time, the tactility of the material, and interpersonal relationships. Through material and personal explorations of memory, she weaves together meaning to tell new stories.

Stacey Piwinski received her BFA in painting in 1999, MFA in studio teaching in 2000 from Boston University, and MFA in visual arts from Lesley University in January 2014. She has had solo exhibitions at Boston University, Fountain Street Gallery, and in Wellfleet, MA. She has been included in several juried exhibitions at places such as Kathryn Markel Fine Arts, NYC, Montserrat College of Art, South Shore Art Center, ArtBlock Gallery, and in the Boston Young Contemporaries exhibition where she earned the Gapka Award. She was awarded an Emerging Artist Fellowship from Fountain Street Gallery in 2014.

Stacey was a part of the Japan Fulbright Memorial Teaching Program and was inspired by Japanese textiles, specifically Saori Weaving. She has traveled to Salt Spring Island, Canada to be the artist in residence at Saori Salt Spring. She also recently participated in art residencies at the Studios at Mass MoCA and Vermont Studio Center. She has facilitated community-weaving projects at schools, art residencies, in public spaces, and in museums. Weaving as a metaphor for bringing people together is a thread that runs through her work.
