Welcome to an amazing winter hike! We will take the Signal Ridge trail for an out and back hike up Mt. Carrigan. However being winter the Sawyer Road off route 302 would not be accessible by cars, so the actual hike will add 2 miles each way walking on the Sawyer road thus taking the trip from 10 to 14 miles. This also means on the way back we will end up on Sawyer road AFTER DARK, which is a totally fine walk on a flat snow packed road.

The Signal Ridge Trail to Mount Carrigan is a 10.8 Mile out and back trail with 3,471 feet of elevation gain. There's a great view from at the top from the fire tower at the peak as well as views all along the ridge. So pray for a clear day as the views will reach the horizons and will make up for the long hard day ahead.

Distance: 14.miles

Elevation gain: 3471 ft.

Difficulty: Hard

There will be a gear check for this hike at the pick up location and at the trailhead if you're a non-carpooler. If you don't have the gear, you will not be allowed to join the hike. No exceptions!

Expectation:

This is NOT a beginner hike so you must be in good shape and have confidence in finishing it, in winter conditions! We will be keeping a steady 1.8 to 2mph pace throughout the hike and would try to hike as a group. However if you are slowing the group down (this includes myself too) I expect you to have the grace to turn back and wait at the trail head. You must have the gear above or you will be turned away before leaving the carpool spot/trailhead. You are responsible for having a map of this hike; this is not a guided hike. You are joining like-minded enthusiasts and are responsible for your own safety and preparedness. Beyond that lets make this a memorable trip, with great weather and a trip into a winter wonderland. Happy hiking!
