Throughout the 1930s and 40s, swing was the thing that got kids dancing and fueled the popularity of big bands. But swing – a flavor of musical expression that motivated audiences to snap their fingers and move their feet – went on to influence thousands of artists in all forms of music from pop to country, jazz and rhythm and blues continuing to the present day.
Join The Swing Sounds 4 Sept. 19 at the Marilyn Rodman Performing Arts Center at The Orpheum Theater for an intimate look back at swinging tunes and artists from Duke Ellington to Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darrin, Ray Charles and Billy Joel.
Concertgoers will also get a chance to win a giant, prize-filled party balloon containing wine and other goodies courtesy of AlleyOop Party Rentals of Easton, Ma.!
The $20 dinner theater admission includes a delicious Italian buffet featuring lasagna, sandwiches, salad and more. Doors open and dinner will be available beginning at 6:30 p.m. for the 7:30 p.m. performance. The show will be presented in the theater’s cozy upper level cabaret with table seating. Craft beer and wine service will be available.
The veteran quartet consists of Richard Foster, vocals and trumpet; Frank Saccoccio, guitar; Emily Gove, piano; and George Piggott, bass.
The Marilyn Rodman Performing Arts Center at The Orpheum Theatre is located at 1 School Street,
