This is a one session workshop that runs every third Sunday from 10:15am - 2:45pm, with a half hour break for lunch. Select your date from the drop-down ticketing menu within Eventbrite listing: dates available are 7/16, 8/20, 9/17
Learn about the latest awesome widget from Adafruit Industries, the "Circuit Playground", a wearable microcontroller that has ten multicolor RGB LEDs, a microphone, speaker, accelerometer, light sensor, and other goodies that can make any piece of clothing an interactive light and sound show. The Circuit Playground is an Arduino compatible device, and uses the same well known interface that has been taught previously.
This course will additionally teach you:
The basics of how to work with the Circuit Playground and the Arduino development environment
Simple programming elements (looping, conditional statements, functions, state machines) that make it easier to put a project together,
How to document and maintain your project.
No previous experience necessary.
Students will learn:
The Arduino platform basics,
How the Arduino is programmed,
How to use the sample included programs,
The basic four elements of digital input, digital output, analog input and analog output,
Basic sensor types included on the Adafruit Circuit Playground; accelerometer, microphone, light and temperature sensor
Basic output devices - Neopixel LEDs for lights, piezo speaker for sound
How to hook up external devices
How to use the Circuit Playground in wearables
Students should have a working familiarity with their computer (Mac or Windows) - i.e. how to install programs and device drivers. Students must be at least 18 years of age.
Kits are built in to ticket price and provided for the class to work with and take home. The class has access to the Artisan's Asylum computer lab, but it is recommended that students bring their own laptop.
This class will be canceled if fewer than 5 students have signed up 48hrs in advance of class start: don't wait till the last minute, sign yourself up and bring a friend!
