Join the Museum in honoring those who gave their lives in service to our country.

Celebrate Memorial Day at the USS Constitution Museum this month. Activities throughout the day will recognize the service and sacrifice of our military community.

Starting Armed Services Day, Saturday, May 17, all active-duty service members and their families receive complimentary admission to the Museum as part of the Blue Star Museums program. Blue Star Museums is a partnership between the National Endowment for the Arts and Blue Star Families, in collaboration with the Department of Defense and museums across America.


Willow Tree Tribute

May 1 – May 31

9:30 am – 5:00 pm

This month, Museum visitors are encouraged to make a leaf to be placed on our Willow Tree in tribute to a fallen USS Constitution service member and share why celebrating Memorial Day is important to them. Willow trees can be rooted from cuttings with ease, and are seen as survivors and a symbol of rebirth. This activity is available to all Museum visitors during operating hours until Saturday, May 31.


Make a Patriotic Flag Pin

Saturday, May 24- Monday, May 26

11:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Create a flag pin out of beads with options that are friendly for all ages. A symbolic way to remember our fallen service members and the freedoms they were defending. Free with admission by donation at the Museum, while supplies last (no registration required).


Taps Across America

May 26

3:00 PM

At 3:00 pm, the Museum will pause with National Parks of Boston and USS Constitution for a duration of one minute in silence as taps will sound at Charlestown Navy Yard flagpole. We invite you to join us in this national moment of remembrance as Americans remember those who died in military service.
