Earth Day is nearly here, but WBUR believes our planet deserves a whole week of celebrating. Head over to CitySpace at The Lavine Broadcast Center from Tuesday, April 23 through Friday, April 26 for conversations, performances, and animals right on Commonwealth Avenue.

1) Reptile and Amphibian Night with Zoo New England

Tuesday, April 23 | 6:30-8:00 p.m.

Habitats for our cold-blooded friends, including salamanders and turtles, are under threat. WBUR climate and environment correspondent Barbara Moran joins Zoo New England’s Emilie Wilder and Matt Kamm to discuss how conservationists and scientists are working to save endangered reptiles and amphibians. Join us for a conversation, live demonstration, and turtle meet-and-greet. BUY TICKETS.

2) Choose Your Own Disaster II - Re-adventuring through Hollywood’s attempts to tackle climate change

Wednesday, April 24 | 6:30-8:00 p.m.

In this hilarious and interactive discussion, Endless Thread co-hosts Ben Brock Johnson and Amory Sivertson dive into what Hollywood disaster movies have gotten wrong (and right) about climate change. Audience members will choose how to deal with disaster flick scenarios and a panel of experts will weigh in on the viability for our own real-life climate crisis. BUY TICKETS.

3) An evening with Soul Fire Farm founder Leah Penniman

Friday, April 26 | 6:30-8:00 p.m.

Join WBUR assistant managing editor for climate and environment Kathleen Masterson in conversation with Leah Penniman, the founding co-ED and farm director of Soul Fire Farm. Located in Grafton, New York, the Afro-Indigenous community farm is committed to uprooting racism and seeding sovereignty in our food system. Both of Penniman’s books will be available for purchase on site and she’ll sign copies after the talk. BUY TICKETS.
