Experimental Short Films
Part of Power(s) of Water Festival, celebrating water as not only a resource, but also a life and creative force. Funded by the Franco-German Cultural Fund and organized by Institut Français des Etats-Unis – Villa Albertine and Goethe-Institut Boston.
As we confront unprecedented ecological challenges, the art of moving images plays a crucial role in fostering a more informed and motivated global community.
RPM Festival, Art Department of UMass-Boston, and Goethe Institut Boston co-present a compelling two-part artistic film series focused on Water and Climate. In an era marked by climate change, these experimental short films offer a unique perspective for addressing our environmental crisis. Rather than merely depicting the harsh realities of environmental degradation, this series engages audiences on an emotional level, presenting both the urgent need for action and the hopeful possibilities for a sustainable future.
Through this innovative artistic approach, these films aim to inspire and catalyze meaningful change.
The Revolutions Per Minute festival is an annual festival celebrating cutting edge experimental media art that expands our experience of the world, including short-form poetic, personal, experimental film & video, essay documentary, animation, sound art, media installation and audiovisual performance. Born in 2013 at Colgate University, RPM relocated to Boston in 2018. This year's festival runs from September 25th to 30th and will include media showcases at Boston City Hall, Museum of Fine Arts, Brattle Theater, UMass-Boston, Harvard University and Goethe Institute. Past iterations of the festival featured work by artists including Peggy Ahwesh, Stephanie Barber, Mary Helena Clark, Janie Geiser, Ariana Gerstein, Vincent Grenier, Sabine Gruffat, and Barbara Hammer.
