FILM SCREENINGS
Morse Auditorium | Films play on a loop throughout the day
Artists and audiences have long negotiated social anxiety and cultural change through the genre of suspense. Suspense films evoke the uncanny, unravel mysteries, analyze our present circumstances or imagine alternative futures in response to traumatic events. Watch and Chill 3.0: Streaming Suspense presents an international array of 23 filmmakers who are exploring and reimagining the suspense genre.
Launched in 2021, Watch and Chill is the world’s first subscription-based, streamed film festival. Created by the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA) Seoul, Watch and Chill is presented as a collaboration between art institutions that each offer a physical screening experience alongside an online presentation.
The films – ranging from short music videos to long meditations on nature – are organized around five topics: “Landscape under Moonlight,” “Assembly of Evidence,” “Mutable Corpus,” “Performance of the Undead” and “Post-Dystopian Worldbuilding.” A selection of films will be screened every day the museum is open between November 18 and December 2.
Films are unrated and intended for an adult audience. Please enjoy at your own discretion.
Watch and Chill 3.0: Streaming Suspense is produced in collaboration with the MMCA; PEM; the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia; and TONO, a performance and video festival in Mexico City. This project offers subscribers around the world the opportunity to stream works from the participating institutions’ media collections or chosen by their curators.
