About

We invite you to join us for a special glimpse into the 2025 Mary Schein Fall Salon.

During this event, Akanksa Upadhyay and Catherine Clarke will lead an engaging and interactive art-viewing experience, What do you see? at our Kathryn Schultz Gallery. Participants will explore and discuss the artwork on display in a welcoming environment. Upadhyay and Clarke are trained in VTS@Work through the Hailey group, and these 20 minute guided sessions will utilize the VTS framework to inspire lively and thought-provoking conversations.

Whether an art enthusiast or a curious beginner, participants are invited to experience the exhibition on display in a new and engaging way.

Please bring a friend along to introduce them to the Cambridge Art Association!

What is VTS?

Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) is an interactive teaching method designed to enhance visual literacy, critical thinking, and communication skills through the examination and discussion of art. In an art gallery setting, VTS encourages visitors to engage deeply with artworks by observing closely, sharing interpretations, and listening to others' perspectives. This approach fosters a dynamic and inclusive dialogue, allowing participants to construct meaning collectively and appreciate diverse viewpoints. Through guided questions such as "What is going on in this picture?", "What do you see that makes you say that?", and "What more can we find?", VTS transforms the art viewing experience into an active and participatory learning process.
