Center Club, New England’s oldest and largest Clubhouse for people with psychiatric disabilities, proudly hosts their first full-scale musical production, “Vaudeville Tonight.” The show will be presented Friday, May 10 and Friday, May 17 at 5 p.m., with doors opening at 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for Adult General Admission, and $8 for seniors/children 12 years and under. Food and drink will be sold separately.
Center Club, located in the heart of Boston near Government Center, provides individuals with psychiatric disabilities with employment, housing and education services—as well as social activities, wellness initiatives, and advocacy services—using a holistic approach that is highly empowering. Since 1959, we have been dedicated to the principles of self-help, peer support and empowerment. Club members attend on a voluntary basis, participating in Club management, policy development and the day-to-day operation of the program.
The show is produced by special arrangement with Pioneer Drama Service of Englewood, CO. With a book by Joseph George Caruso and music by Paul Curnow, “Vaudeville Tonight” is a revue where a troupe of actors, singers and dancers take audiences on a journey back to the gay 1890s and early 20th century. The audience will relive the days when America’s musical theatre was beginning to come into its own through a form of entertainment called “Vaudeville.” The score features songs taken from the Great American Songbook, written by such composers as George M. Cohan, Stephen Foster and Victor Herbert.
