Urbanity Dance will produce the world premieres of six commissioned works at its annual Spring Revue, Fragment. Performed by Urbanity’s Professional Company, it will feature the choreography of nationally recognized artists Shura Baryshnikov (Brown University, Doppelgänger Dance Collective), Mike Esperanza (Peridance, BARE Dance Company), and Andy and Dionne Noble (NobleMotion Dance), as well as Boston-based artists Chantal Doucett, Jenna Pollack, and Jacob Regan.
The artists will explore their own interpretation of the term “fragment”—sharing their understanding of how bits and pieces can coalesce into a more universal experience. “So much of society is fragmented...we are interested in pulling at these strings and unraveling people’s narratives to find some commonality and shared experience.”
