Hailing from central Texas, though currently residing in Beverly, Massachusetts, violinist, vocalist and songwriter Aisha Burns has been touring and recording since 2006. Inspired by Gillian Welch, Nina Simone, the warmth of a string quartet, the quiet of night, loss, and simplicity, in 2013 her debut record was born.
Her new album, Life in the Midwater, called "one of the most arresting recent releases," by Dazed Magazine, and praised for it's "delicate intimacy," by NPR, explores mortality and relationships with candor and wisdom. Oscillating between tense and soothing sentiment, it moves from minimal to sweeping arrangements as remarkable for their diversity as their cohesion.
Home.stead cafe is thrilled and honored to bring Aisha to our stage after owners, Elisa and Vivian, fell in love with her music at the JP Porch Fest last year. There will be Fennel Tortellini Soup, desserts, and drinks available for purchase. There is easy evening parking in a school parking lot through the alley across the street (next to the liqueur store). We are 1.5 blocks from the Red Line, Fields Corner T stop. Doors open @ 7:30pm.
