Calling all Twin Peaks fans: get out your pocket tape recorder and note carefully: “Diane: 8:30 PM. May 28. The Crystal Ballroom in Davis Square hosts the official afterparty for a Somerville Theatre screening of the David Lynch movie Fire Walk with Me.” The event is presented by Identical Cousins, creators of sold-out spectaculars The Red Room, The Bang Bang Bar and the virtual Damn Good Coffee Meditation. This FWWM fever dream marks their first return to in-person events since 2020.
The party kicks off immediately after a showing of Fire Walk with Me at The Somerville Theatre. Enjoy the cult-favorite movie—once-underrated / now feverishly re-examined — and then saunter upstairs in your favorite TP-inspired get-up. Roam the ballroom and check out immersive art installations inspired by the show, including a Red Room pop-up where you can take your own damn fine photos. A costume contest will be judged by the Log Lady, Dale Cooper, and Laura Palmer herself!
Get swept up next by the ethereal sounds of Julee Cruise Director — the all-femme / non-binary Twin Peaks soundtrack supergroup featuring members of Major Stars, The Shaggs reunion, Shepherdess, and Umbrella Pine. The band channels classic hits such as “Falling” and “Dance of the Dream Man” from David Lynch’s collaborations with the immortal (and much missed) Angelo Badalamenti (1937–2022) and Julee Cruise (1956–2022).
Francine “The Lucid Dream,” producer and star of NYC’s The Pink Room Burlesque (Miss Twin Peaks 2016, featured in Showtime’s “Twin Peaks: The Phenomenon”) is the cherry atop this surreal soirée, with swoon-worthy performances throughout the night. Francine has had the honor of sharing the stage with Colin Quinn, Horatio Sanz, Murray Hill, Bridgett Everett & entertaining such notables as Lady Gaga, Donatella Versace, Kate Upton, Seth MacFarlane, Joaquin Phoenix & Jeremy Renner. Time Out NY has dubbed her the “Lynch Lady, the force behind The Pink Room, a strange and wonderful attraction.” and notes she’s “an alum of the Upright Citizens Brigade, and injects plenty of humor into her performances.” while Gothamist simply states “David Lynch is a fan(!)”
NYC-based rapper and comedian Schäffer the Darklord (or STD)—whose manic energy fuels a cartoonishly commanding stage presence—is another apparition on the scene, as co-emcee and performer. STD has released nine albums and is a founding member of touring nerdcore hip-hop collective known as the Four-Eyed Horsemen.
Featured drag performer Celia Smokinbutts is what happens when a wet dream becomes a nightmare. The result of a dangerously overactive imagination, Celia enjoys mixing burlesque, humor and body horror to give you something to wonder about while you can’t seem to fall asleep and you have to work in a couple hours. Celia enjoys long strolls through the dump, bloody marys and fighting!
And speaking of bloody mary’s themed cocktails will flow all night long, so you can sip on a “Midnight Oil” (coffee), “Cherry Pie,” or "Garmonbozia" cocktail while mingling with fellow fans and enjoying tracks curated by DJ Sir Rich Wentworth. Not even the log can say for sure: you might just run into your doppelgänger or the man from another place…what year IS this?!
Tickets for the Fire Walk with Me After Party are on sale now and can be purchased online. Admission to the After Party automatically includes access to the movie.
