About this event:
The Theatre for Social Justice Department at Eastern Nazarene College proudly presents Twelfth Night, a musical adaptation of Shakespeare’s comedy by composer and lyricist Shaina Taub (As You Like It).
This production will run February 25 – 26 and March 4 – 5, 2022 with a school show on the morning of Thursday March 3, 2022. Talkbacks will be held following performances on February 25th, 26th, and March 5th.
Twelfth Night, originally written by William Shakespeare, was thoughtfully adapted by composer/lyricist Shaina Taub and writer/director Kwame Kwei-Armah for the Public Theatre in New York in 2018. Drawing on a variety of musical stylings and cultural influences, it pushes Shakespeare’s original show even further with its serious yet humorous examinations of identity – it’s fluidity, its construction, its perception, and its internalization.

Can we accept each other in spite of their flaws and peculiarities?
Why and who do we love?
We invite students, teachers, and parents to come engage with this live performance and consider how we might look a little deeper into the evolving experiences of those all around us – and love a little bit deeper. And sometimes, we have to look at ourselves and love a little more there as well.
This production is directed by Emily Nicole Cameron with Music Direction by Berklee School of Music’s Makai Keur. It features the talents of performers from the greater Boston area and the design talents of ENC’s very own Theatre for Social Justice Majors.
