While Turkey may not be famous for a wide variety of pasta dishes, it is home to mantı—tiny, delicate dumplings stuffed with spiced meat and served with a rich yogurt sauce. The art of making mantı is both competitive and symbolic; the smaller the dumplings, the more skill and care the cook requires. In this class, we’ll introduce you to some classic Turkish pasta preparations and explore the incredible variety of yogurts that play a starring role in these dishes. Unlike Western-style pasta, Turkish pasta is often paired with yogurt, butter, and walnuts instead of heavy cream-based sauces—making it light, refreshing, and perfect for summer. Ana will demonstrate the following dishes: Eriste with arugula, tomato, yogurt sauce & walnuts, Manti with tomato, brown butter, sumac, lazy noodles with beef, sweet corn, and buttered pinenuts, and tomato-orzo pilaf.
All of our cooking classes are held in our Allston location and are demonstration-style. Our chefs will do the cooking and baking and you will get to do the eating and drinking—and we'll send you home with all of the recipes from class!
