After more than two decades in the business, Boston native and master woodworker Thomas MacDonald, best known as the former host of Rough Cut: Woodworking with Tommy Mac on PBS, is opening his first-ever public showroom in Boston’s Financial District. To celebrate the occasion, Tommy Mac Custom Furniture is hosting a Ribbon Cutting & Grand Opening Celebration on Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., featuring music, light bites, and refreshments.


The new space at 155 Federal Street marks a major milestone for the local craftsman, bringing his award-winning artistry from his North End workshop into a public setting where visitors can experience the full Tommy Mac Collection in person. The showroom will showcase handcrafted furniture pieces, including his signature rockers, armchairs, and live-edge tables, which are all made in Massachusetts using traditional joinery techniques and premium North American hardwoods.
