In the 2010s, a group of artists fascinated by the sacred choral music of 300 years ago came together in Brooklyn, NY, These composers—men and women, gay and straight, religious and atheist—shared apartments and church jobs, recording projects and record labels, and a compositional language that is at once ancient and contemporary. To the Hands explores the music of today’s Indie-Classical composers and the Renaissance and Baroque composers who inspired them. Guest Conductor Emily Isaacson leads Back Bay Chorale in works by Bach, Palestrina, Caleb Burhans, Nico Muhly, Sarah Kirkland Snider, and 2013 Pulitzer Prize® and multi-GRAMMY-Award® winning composer Caroline Shaw.
