Every year as the clock nears midnight on December 31, the eyes of the world turn once more to the dazzling lights and bustling energy of Times Square. Anticipation runs high. New Year's Eve at the symbolic center of New York City has become more than just a celebration — it's a global tradition.

The world holds its breath, and cheers as the clocks strike twelve.

As the famous New Year's Eve Ball descends atop One Times Square, countless people watch Times Square, nationwide, and throughout the world and are united in bidding collective farewell to the departing year and expressing joy and hope for the year ahead.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, NYE 2021 will NOT be open to the public this year — but there will be live performances, and we hope all of you will enjoy the virtual celebrations safely from the comfort of your own home. New Year's Eve 2021 might look a little different than usual, but one thing that will never change is the ticking of time and the arrival of a New Year at midnight on December 31st. Celebrate with us virtually in an enhanced celebration that will bring Times Square and the Ball Drop to you no matter where you are.

Watch Times Square New Year's Eve 2021 live here.

Entertainment and Guests:

We're thrilled that global music legend Gloria Gaynor and acclaimed singer-songwriter Andra Day will both be performing on New Year's Eve! Andra Day will perform her Grammy Award-nominated single “Rise Up,” as well as her song “Forever Mine," and will continue the New Year’s Eve tradition of singing John Lennon’s “Imagine” just before the Ball Drop. Two-time Grammy winner Gloria Gaynor will be performing her classic, and very appropriate, hit "I Will Survive" on New Year's Eve, along with two other songs.

As the event’s official Special Guests, Times Square New Year’s Eve will recognize the “Heroes of 2020,” thosethat show the courage and creativity to help us through this year — first responders, frontline and essential workers and their families who sacrificed so much in 2020 to provide care and support for their communities. The Heroes of 2020 will be represented onsite by New York families of first responders, frontline and essential workers, whose personal stories from the past year inspire all of us and reflect the best of the human spirit. These New York stories of sacrifice and public service are representative of family stories in every community in every state across our country and around the world.

Watch Online:

Watch Gloria Gaynor, Andra Day, and more through our annual commercial-free online webcast, hosted by Jonathan Bennett! Media outlets and bloggers are also welcome to embed the webcast on their own pages.

Jamestown, the owner of One Times Square, has created a first-of-its-kind virtual New Year's Eve experience. Everyone everywhere can start the festivities today and enter a virtual world of Time Square filled with games, music, and art. Then, on December 31st, viewers can tune in for a live broadcast where they can choose from multiple camera feeds to direct their own New Year’s Eve show. Plus, viewers will also get a chance to see other celebrations from around the globe, and hear messages from local leaders and people from dozens of cities from around the world
