About the Organizations
THE BOSTON UJIMA PROJECT
Building a People's Economy in Boston
THE UJIMA PROJECT is organizing neighbors, workers, business owners and investors to create a new community-controlled economy in Boston. We are challenging poverty and developing our communities by organizing our savings, businesses and customers to grow local wealth and meet our own needs.
Ujima is a Swahili word, and the celebrated Kwanzaa principle for "collective work and responsibility." The Ujima Project demonstrates new ways to invest, work, buy, own, and advocate. We believe that Another World is Possible, and we are building it today!
OLIO is a worker-owned culinary collective, dedicated to sustainable sourcing, workplace fairness & the celebration of food as culture. Olio is proud to use food as a means to uplift their customers and build the resilience of community. The worker-owners of Olio come from a wide range of culinary backgrounds, ready to create a specially customized menu that fits your budget and event needs. If you're looking for memorable food that's interesting and flavorful, that puts your money back into the local economy and is crafted by people who you know are being paid a living wage - Olio is there.
