Sisters in Stitches Joined by the Cloth | SISJBTC
Over the centuries, women of African descent have come together to sew, share their joys and sorrows, and celebrate their history and traditions through the art of quilt making.
Founded in 1997, Sisters in Stitches Joined By The Cloth is a New England-based quilt guild that was composed of black women dedicated to creating different forms of quilt art.
Today, SISJBTC is joined together by their shared experiences in quilt making. Their purpose is to encourage and foster the preser- vation of the African American art form of quilting. To teach, learn, preserve, and address social injustice; to pass along information about quilts of the past and present; to exhibit fine examples of fiber art, and to encourage quilt making and collecting, both private and public.
SISJBTC meets on the third Saturday of each month at 1:00 p.m., St. John’s Episcopal Church in Arlington, MA. Join us as we prepare for our 30th anniversary celebration.
