This Week in the Tasting Room: Chenin Blanc


A varietal focus on one of our favorite noble white varietals, Chenin Blanc, from France, South Africa, and California. Chenin Blanc makes wines across the spectrum of sweetness in the Loire Valley, from dry, demi-sec, to moelleux (very sweet dessert-style wines). It's a staple varietal in the Loire, but did you know that Chenin Blanc is also the widest planted grape in South Africa, where its ancient name is Steen? There are also phenomenal examples of Chenin Blanc coming out of California.
