The Burlington Players are delighted to announce auditions for the satirical comedy, The Thanksgiving Play by Larissa FastHorse. Production dates are November 7 – November 22, 2025.
Director Dev Luthra and Assistant Director Gabbie Hatcher will hold auditions on Monday, August 25th and Tuesday, August 26th from 7PM-10PM by appointment in one-hour blocks at the Burlington Players Park Playhouse, One Edgemere Ave in Burlington, MA.
Callbacks will be on Wednesday August 27th from 7PM-10PM.
The Show:
The Thanksgiving Play follows four white professionals determined to create a politically correct First Thanksgiving play for Native American Heritage Month in schools. Logan, the director, hires an actress named Alicia, believing she is Native American, to provide cultural authenticity. However, it is soon revealed that Alicia is actually white and only portrays Native American characters when not playing other ethnicities.
Without an authentic Native voice, Logan and her team – which includes her partner Jaxton, an earnest actor, and Caden, an enthusiastic history teacher – are forced to confront the complexities of privilege while adhering to historical accuracy and school district rules.
The Thanksgiving Play will run from November 7th through November 22nd.
Actors are encouraged to audition for any role that appeals to them, regardless of gender identity, race, ethnicity, age, size, or disability. Roles listed fall on the gender binary and are described by race, but all actors are encouraged to audition for any role which appeals to them. All ages are open.
It should be noted that the play explicitly addresses the challenges facing female-presenting people living in the patriarchy, and that representation as white or white-presenting is integral to the action of the play.
