David Ortiz has given Boston many things: 483 homeruns with the Red Sox; a big part in winning three World Series championships; bragging rights that our DH is the all-time leader in MLB history for homeruns, RBIs and hits… and the list goes on. But on the eve that his jersey will be gloriously retired at Fenway Park, some of his friends want remind him of his most “memorable” performances – off the field.

Benefitting Big Papi’s nonprofit The David Ortiz Children’s Fund, “The Roast of David Ortiz” will bring some of the biggest names in comedy and sports to the House of Blues in Boston on Thursday, June 22, to roast everyone’s favorite designated hitter. Emceed by comic Josh Wolf and with appearances by former teammate Dustin Pedroia who will dish the locker room dirt, Papi’s “Sippin’” co-singer Rob Gronkowski, hometown funnymen Bill Burr and Lenny Clarke, comedian Sarah Tiana, actor Anthony Mackie and more special guests, the night will put Ortiz on the pedestal of hilarity as the talents take supporters into the mind of one of baseball’s most celebrated figures.

After the loving public shaming, roast revelers will have the chance to bid on priceless memorabilia and experiences in a live auction that will benefit Ortiz’s Fund’s mission of providing lifesaving heart surgeries for children in the Dominican Republic and New England through its partnerships with the World Pediatric Project and MassGeneral Hospital for Children. Post-roast, guests will have a chance to party with Ortiz and friends on the final night of his retirement tour.
