The Makanda Project brings its season of summer jazz concerts to a close with one more event on the lawn of First Church in Roxbury. Renowned poet Askia Toure will read at intermission, and there will also be arts and crafts vendors, information tables, children's activities, and food. Kurtis Rivers, Paavo Carey, Arni Cheatham, Sean Berry, Charlie Kohlhase (saxophones); Jerry Sabatini, Haneef Nelson (trumpets); Ku-umba Frank Lacy, Alfred Patterson, Bill Lowe (trombones); John Kordalewski (piano); John Lockwood (bass); Yoron Israel (drums).
