The Makanda Project first 2021 concert

Leading Boston big band, the 13 piece Makanda Project begins its 2021 season with a free outdoor performance at Bartlett Place. The group will premiere some recently-arranged Makanda Ken McIntyre compositions along with some favorites from its repertoire, including some South African jazz pieces. Kurtis Rivers, Lee Odom - alto saxophone; Sean Berry, Paavo Carey - tenor saxophone; Charlie Kohlhase - baritone saxophone; Jerry Sabatini, Haneef Nelson - trumpet; Alfred Patterson, Sarah Politz, Bill Lowe - trombone; Naledi Masilo - voice; John Kordalewski - piano; John Lockwood - bass; Yoron Israel - drums.
