The Makanda Project resumes its popular Dudley Library concert series with a concert featuring Boston native Ricky Ford. Mr. Ford played with Charles Mingus and Mercer Ellington when in his early 20s and quickly became, during the 1980s, one of the most highly regarded young tenor saxophonists in jazz. Since the 1990s he has been living in Paris, and his U.S. appearances have been rare. Also performing are Kurtis Rivers, Arni Cheatham, Sean Berry, and Charlie Kohlhase (saxophones); Jerry Sabatini and Dan Rosenthal (trumpets); Sarah Politz and Bill Lowe (trombones); John Kordalewski (piano); John Lockwood (bass); and Yoron Israel (drums).
