The Makanda Project featuring Chico Freeman

Boston's acclaimed jazz orchestra The Makanda Project closes its 2025 season with a concert featuring world renowned saxophonist Chico Freeman. The group has worked with Mr. Freeman for almost a decade now, and developed a large repertoire of his compositions, arranged for a large ensemble for the first time by Makanda Project leader John Kordalewski. For this concert the 13-piece group will also be augmented by a 5-member string section representing Roxbury's City Strings United. The concert will take place in Twelfth Baptist Church's main sanctuary, where the acoustics enhance the sound of the group.
